Apply for Driver's Training Grant
Thank you for your interest in the Grug’s Thugs Driver’s Training Grant. This grant is designed to help eligible households/parents/legal guardians cover the cost of their high school student's mandatory six-hour behind-the-wheel driving course at a California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)-licensed driving school. The grant amount will be determined based on objective criteria including household income, number of dependents, and demonstrated financial need, as established by our board-approved grant guidelines. Selection is made by independent personnel on a non-discriminatory basis. Regardless of GPA, we believe every student should have the chance to become a safe and responsible driver.
Requirements and Qualifications

Be between the ages of 15.5 and 17.5

Complete driver's education within 280 days of receiving a grant

Parents and legal guardians of eligible students between the ages of 15½ and 17½ are encouraged to apply for the driver’s training grant program. Our selection process follows objective criteria established and administered by an independent selection committee, including financial need, household size relative to income, commitment to complete the program, and readiness to participate in driver's training. All decisions are documented and retained for IRS compliance purposes. Academic performance (GPA) is not considered during the application review.
